I just put the new Slant 6 back in my 1976 Dodge Dart.

Problem is the pulleys are off. It appears the new harmonic balancer is closer to the engine block than before.

I have the same power steering system, same alternator system, new water pump, but I compared it to the old one and it is dimensionally the same. So it appears the new variable is the harmonic dampener is shifted in one width of a belt.

Any suggestions?

Send the original damper out to get rebuilt and use it instead (or at least measure all dimensions carefullybetween the new and old dampers). Alternatively, check the play in the thrust bearings on the crank.

You should have the pulley that's part of the damper and one bolted to the front of it for power steering. Is this true? You didn't put the fan spacer between the water pump and fan did you?
