Wasn't me. Although, I was courting the seller. Had sent a query as to whether I could pay with a USPS money order, and got a positive response. Was seriously thinking about dropping a bid, but got beat out. Oh, well, was not meant to be.
(I do this at live auctions, too.)

Definitely a cool piece. Not in the cards for me. Someone thought it was worth the asking price. Hopefully we will see it again... on a running motor!

Seems reasonable enough to me. If I needed to drive something off the cam how much time would I spend modifying a stock cover?

Plus,... It’s just so cool! 8)

My finger hovered over the bid button for a second or two...

Who would put that kind of money in an old part like that? Must have money to burn.
Probably going on a show car or something that will never go down the race track.

I thought Team Green raced all their show cars.
Or is it the other way around?

If you wanted to make your own cover, you'd burn through $350 in no time, and you wouldn't have the cool factor that it has. Hard to accept at first, but it was not a bad price.

You guys really hurt my feelings thinking that I would buy a heavy weight of piece of fluff for the Lancer.

I know who bought the awesome cover and I changed his name in my phone to: $$$$$$$

When you buy that cover, you are not buying fluff. In addition to being a useful car part, it's a tribute to the racing of days past, an artisenal piece of art crafted of molten aluminum by craftsman guided by the very hand of the artist himself, Keith Black. Very few were made and it is the only one known to still exist that hasn't been refinished. I've only seen one other, and it was in nowhere near the condition of this piece. In a retail setting, I'd place an estimate of $350 on it, with a conservative auction estimate of $350, and for insurance purposes I'd use a value of $20,000.

GregCon,

One thing you should understand when reading most of Mark's posts...

He doesn't use the emoticons to the left as freely as others, such as myself, do...

However, much of what he posts should be read with noted sarcasm being present...

Ain't that right, Mark?

Seems to be a topic of discussion for sure.
Since that one got snapped up, does anyone have any interest in this item?
Much cheaper price.
