 Post subject: Gas Gauge Not Working

Car Model:
I have a 1964 Dodge 330 sedan and the gas gauge has stopped working what should I check first?

Car Model: Many & varied, including stock & hopped up /6's
Check the following common problems:

1) Ground strap between sender (in tank) and main body fuel line.

2) Gauge connections on back of cluster (your other gauges do work, correct?)

3) Float in tank. If you go this far and the float is OK, also check the small rivet that holds the rheostat (little flat piece with wound wire) to the sending unit assy)

There are other things it can be, but these are some of the more common.
