I'm planning my slant into RX8 swap. The transplant motor has the flat motor mounts, but I notice that there were also a through bolt type. My build will be moderate HP, and my goal is smooth and quiet. Which mounts would be best for those goals? Keep in mind the RX8 has a transmission to rear end brace (not sure what it is called) that prevents the motor from twisting under load.

So not more than stock load on the mounts.

The flat style would likely be easier to fabricate. The through bolt style would be a little more difficult, but would hold the engine better in event of failure of the rubber part.

Matt is correct. If it were me and I were fabbing everything anyway, I might find a more common (later model) biscuit-style mount. Even just using the SB Mopar V8 biscuits would be easier, or maybe something used w/a SB Ford or Chev... The top stud of the "new" biscuit would go into your stock mount brackets and for the other end you can fab a mount on the car.

The donor motor is from a 1985 Dodgr pickup. Can I use those?

The '85 truck mounts should be the "spool type" not the biscuit mounts.

No the 85 trucks have flat mounts with the safety interlock in case one of them tears. Actually, I'm not sure if the slant 6 truck ever went to the spool type mount ??

I actually use the 85 truck flat mount in my 65 valiant on the D/S.

Is that plenty good for a mild build?

Sure. I'm running 12's and have not replaced mine. They have been in for 8 years
