I am getting what appears to be fuel on the exhaust manifold, and exhaust pipe.

This is on an engine swap project so it does not have any road miles on it, but moves under its own power in and out of the workshop. I prefer to work outside as the light is better.

Have raised the float, some and that seemed to stop the fuel from appearing at the throttle shaft after shut down. That also stopped the fuel from seeping out around the top cover on this 1945 Holley. Will be removing the top cover again, so see where the fuel level is and if the float needs more fine tuning.

No vacuum leak that I am aware of, and yet the dark color-traces of fuel look to originate about at the level of the accelerator cable bracket.

Do EGR gaskets decompose on their own? I am assuming the EGR block off plate and gasket are original, from the 1977 D200 origin the engine came from.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

At least part of the gasket is subject directly to hot exhaust gasses. With that in mind, it is likely that the gasket can deteriorate. I would think that you would have an exhaust leak there since exhaust is outward pressure.

i put a pipe plug in the bottom of my intake under the carb, with plenty of red loctite ..... But if you have raw fuel in there, you have a carb problem.

I thought it was fuel.. futzed around with the carb some more, and then ran the engine long enough to get it up to operating temperature.

The 'fuel' is oil, or that is what it smells like when it burns off. AND there is a drop of oil in the PVC hose...

The PVC valve also rattles-whistles at times, It is new, and I used to think it would quiet down once some oil mist gets in it.. but it is no longer dry, that is for darn sure.

I did not think to check the amount of blow by, but I don't think it is that bad, and there is no smoke from the exhaust..

any and all thoughts and suggestions welcome.
