Some 1978 bbd did not have accerator pump intake check ball. Filled from top so fuel level has to above the botrom of spill way slot.

I'm not daring enough to try this with the engine running. Is it at all useful to check the fuel level, as such with the engine off? Seems to me that such would provide the same information wouldn't it ?
