My leaf springs are old and sagging on my 63 valiant; what replacement is recommended without shelling out big bucks? OEM Replacements are very expensive....

Sounds like a good repair to do soon and you will enjoy the car more. What do you consider big bucks? I think Espo (https://www.springsnthings.com/) is a good source for our cars. I think you will pay $300 for a good set of springs and bushings these days. You might need new shackles too, but usually those are OK. I would not get HD springs unless you really want a stiff ride and/or substantially higher ride height.

Slant on,

Lou

There's a place in Pennsylvania and another in KC that I have bought replacement leaf springs from over the past 5 years or so for 2 of my vehicles and have been happy with both.
Plus I've done a couple of "side job" leaf spring jobs from both over the same time.

I've called them and yeah they know theirs stuff. But somehow I've never ordered from there.
How many leaves are stock?
I've added a leaf to several of my vehicles over the years.
Always seemed to improve the ride. Except for one. Our Durango, it made it worse.

My '66 has 4 leafs. I went with 6 because that's what the 340 Darts & Dusters had. Just my preference - plus I researched on the for A bodies Only forum. They are better than the SS springs for Road use . Not to stiff, Rides well,Uses stock shocks .everyone seems satisfied - I thought the price was right .

Beware of the idea of simply taking your old set in and having "re arched". I did that on my 78 fury, put them back on and in less than a year they were sagged out again. If you have them reached and then add a leaf you should be alright. My new ones on that car came from KC.
