I spotted this available at the Local Wal*Mart.
I would have bought some, but they were out of the Grade I wanted, So I bought the Regular Castrol GTX. Price was the same for 5 qts of conventional or API SJ / Classic /High Zinc.

Is the higher Zinc going to be beneficial for the Majority of Slant 6 engines?

I guess I am looking for substantial fact based evidence to confirm this is a better choice for the same price vs current other API ratings.

Trying not to start an opinion column about oils.

Interesting. Can't hurt to have some extra insurance, but I think extra zinc is not needed except perhaps on cam break in, or with a high lift and fast rate-of-lift camshaft.

Is it just a marketing gimmick? Do they tell us how much zinc it really has compared to the new and old versions? Just thinking out loud. But I too think more zinc is not going to hurt.

Fact from Castrols MSDS
1400 PPM of zinc for this weight of oil and this specific "Classic high zinc" type.....
When I get time I will check how it compares to other weights etc....

That is a VERY extensive article. I'm an engineer and it was a bit much for me, but good info. I'll print it off and hand it to the next person that asks "what oil do you run?" :D
