 Post subject: 4bbl question
PostPosted: Sun Aug 15, 2004 8:22 pm
I have a 600 vacuum secondary holley 4bbl that I'm rebuilding for my built up slant. I've noticed that there are two holes on either side of the carburetor main body just below the fuel line tube. I've found out that there is supposed to be a balance tube in there which I don't have. What is the purpose of this balance tube? Could I just plug off the two holes in the body?

I am not sure what you are looking at, can you post a picture?
Are we talking about the fuel transfer tube that supplies fuel to the secondary bowl?

I only have one of those in my 'bucket' of Holley's but some of the pre-80's made Holley 4150/4160's came with a little copper tube tha goes through the throttle body itself and connects the bowls and 'equalizes' the fuel in the bowls, and the carb also has the outside transfer tube for filling the secondary bowl. I can't remember if you can solder that shut or if it has something to do with the metering blocks.....

...I'd toss it back in the bucket and go find a good carb...
