Hello! I am trying to identify the cause of a very loud squeal when I push down the accelerator on my 1964 Dart.

The engine is a V-8. The car is driven infrequently and this sound started a couple months ago and has gotten a bit worse over time.

You can see/hear in the linked video. The squeal does not occur under idle, only when hitting the gas pedal. It increases in volume if you rev the engine.

Advice appreciated!

you got it reed.
definitely belt.
it could be worn enough that it is bottoming out in the v of the pulleys as well. if it is worn no matter how tight you get it, it won't have enough grip on the sides to not slip.

And ... Fixed! Thanks for the encouragement and to my local friend (Chevy owner if thats ok ...) who talked me through the pretty simple adjustment.

Now onto the missing fuse ... but that's for another forum.

I assumed he meant a 318. I do wonder where he's getting some of his info though, as it seems he's getting incorrect info.

Just sayin'.....Roger
