Anyone use one of the mail in engine oil analysis services?
I have seen Blackstone and Baldwin as well as others listed when I google the subject.
Wanting to see if there is a correlation between the milage and time variables that go into determining when to change out the motor oil.

thanks

Yup, I used Blackstone when I was in the states. Consistently good quality reports, worth the price.

There are those who fully commit to the church and tithe regularly. Usually their reasons distill down to "it gives me a warm fuzzy". Me, I used it as a tool to narrow in on an appropriate oil change interval for my car, then didn't send for any more tests.

Thanks Dan, I ordered a test kit ( free) from the Blackstone web site.
They say delivery in one to two weeks.

I am not sure how the payment is done?
Do they text me when the report is ready after I send my sample in and then I pay and then the send the report?

and I did find another site that is selling the Blackstone test kits for $35.00, but the same test kits are free on the Blackstone
site,,, so there is that to watch out for.

I don't remember how it works, but at some point you pay and they report! $35ish sounds about right.

Wix has an oil analysis available from Rock Auto. Not sure if it is the same as the other labs, or independent. I used it a decade ago. Presently about $15 plus shipping, and I would send it in a small box, in addition to the container provided.

Blackstone sent me the oil analysis this morning.
The initial payment to Blackstone includes a prepaid and addressed mailer, so sending the sample for analysis is easy.

per Blackstone I should be able to go 10,000 miles between oil changes on this modern engine car.
