I don't think I'll be able to make it. Still sorting the car and had some unexpected expenses crop up.
Still have a month!
Yes, I Agree with Stan! you still have time.

You car does not need to be perfect. i know mine wont be. You just need to commit and be able to drive it to Kentucky.
If you can create a Voltage Regulator out of thin air, you can certainly do this! :D :D :D

Best of luck!

Greg

A few have dropped out, I hope they can get them together by Sept.

I spoke with Denny at Sharadon and he said Steve Nitti is NOT coming.
He is detuning the Duster for street use.

Does anyone know if we can drop our trailers at the track Friday?

BRING Cash to seed the purse and any side bets that show up.

Keep On Slanting!

We always showed up Friday after noon. We are racing Friday right? I thought we were. So we have always been able to get in on Friday.

I'll be there. If I can I'll bring my 1977 Dodge Aspen Custom. If I can't find a way to bring her, I'll drive my 2020 Challenger SXT.

Yes we are racing Friday night. It looks like gates will open around 5 PM and racing starts at 7, from what I see of other recent events. I will try to call, or maybe Rob knows?

You can drop trailers at the track over night, yep. Good to hear Nitti and Sharadon are coming!!

Thanks for posting here again, Fred. I got your call and sorry I have not called back yet. I see your facebook page through my wife's account - great. Thanks for making those posts.

Lou

Yeah maybe Rob can check. I am fairly certain that I arrived between 3 & 4:00 when I came last time.

I will contact Aaron again. Last time I checked he did not have the schedule worked out yet. Typical Friday timeframe from years past, I’m sure. I will reach out and report back.
You can leave trailers at the track. Not sure how early we will be able to enter Friday.

More to follow.

Will we have any Designated "Slant 6" parking around our faithful old tree? :D

Thanks, Rob! If you would, please ask the track if we can email them a flyer to post. I am making one.

Rick: Whoever gets there first should start staking out spots around the Oak Tree. I'll be there early too.

I would like to announce the race entry and purse, based on how much prize money we are gathering. This will be on the flyer, and folks can share it around. Before I make the flyer anyone can share this post...

FREE entry/buy-in to the Slant 6 race on Friday and Saturday. Just pay as a spectator to get in the gate. I'm hoping and assuming we'll have a 5 round race on Saturday.

Saturday Race:
1st round losers get $50. That's right, you show up with a Slant 6 car and make a practice/qualifying run and you get $50.
1st round winners (who don't go further) -- $100
2nd round winners -- $200
Semifinal winners -- $400
Winner -- $800

If anyone wants to donate more to the pot and up the stakes, I'm all ears! Friday we will make sure no one has to pay entry, and I'm not sure about purse/payouts yet.

Slant on and see you all in a month.

Lou Madsen

Events at this Slant 6 Reunion race weekend: (Please feel free to comment or recommend changes. We should try to create the best schedule possible.)

1) Get there early Friday and we'll have a meet and greet with soft drinks and snacks, starting as early as they'll let us in the track - 4 PM? Pit around the big oak tree.

2) Racing Friday night - 1/8th mile. Anyone entered in the race can set official Slant 6 records.

3) Saturday morning at 11 AM -- Seymour Pederson memorial service for Slant 6 racers. I will read Seymour's obituary and say a few words about who he was and what he did for this community. Anyone is welcome to share memories of Seymour and/or times together racing.

4) Racing Saturday - 1/4 mile. Anyone entered in the race can set official Slant 6 records.

5) Dinner at the legendary Pizza Hut in Winchester, KY. We will dine on the best pizza ever. Probably start around 8 PM after racing is finished. There will be sharing of fond memories and Tall Tales!!

6) Gather Sunday morning for breakfast for anyone still around? There might be open-class bracket racing for anyone wanting to race Sunday.

Thanks,
Lou

Update and current status from Kentucky Dragway I just received:

Rob, Our power coming into the facility was compromised and shut us down for nearly 3 months.

We are opened back up but we are on limited schedule.

I'm in a meeting right now working on the rest of the years schedule.

The only thing I can tell you is we can run that Saturday for sure. Definitely not Sunday and Friday not sure at this point.

I know this is not ideal but we have been hit with something totally out of our control.

The high fuel prices have also destroyed racer count and as you know the internet doesn't help.

All I can say at this point is Saturday we are good if you choose to continue that weekend with us.

Hi Rob,

Well, that explains lack of activity on their website and facebook page. Dang that really sucks!

I am in favor of us continuing on Saturday and hoping Friday will work too. I would be willing to put up money to pay the track to open Friday night, if that will help.

I wonder if we should look to other tracks near-ish for Friday night? London, KY looks to be on a limited schedule, and Knoxville is not too far away.

Other ideas?

Lou
