I'd be for trying another track Friday night if Clay City is not open. I'd much rather race two times after towing for a long distance. London is 1/1/2 hrs away and Knoxville is @ 3.

Dang. I was just going to change my reservations to arrive a day earlier so I could race Friday. I am up for whatever the group decides. I am also up to chip in to rent the track for an additional day.

Yes if they do a track rental that would be fine with me also. I'd put another $100 towards that.

What a poopshow.

London has a Big Bucks race that weekend. I'm guessing the car count at CC would be close to 0 with that going on.

I'd guess Saturday we could probably have 2 1/4 mile and 2 1/8 mile races and still be done by 6pm.

I've already got rooms booked and a new ladyfriend who is ecstatic about spending a long weekend in Kentucky, so I'll be there. We're planning on getting there Thursday. We weren't staying for Sunday anyway.

If there's no racing Friday maybe we can do a group dinner somewhere?

I'm still up for some heads-up races, money to go to the pot.

Well, It is what it is! I really don't want to drive 1000 miles to race once. But I probably will! (I know some of you are coming farther than that!) Maybe it will all work out.

We can either get together Friday night and go to that Pizza Hut or we can race at another track. There is also Ohio Valley near Louisville and also US 60 in Hardinsburg. Those are both about two hours or so from Clay city. Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green has the Moparty that weekend, so that will draw a lot of stuff that direction and be a really big show that we should probably avoid. Or…. Maybe we could attend that as a group Friday for fun…. I will do some poking around and see what I can find out about other stuff in lieu of Friday.

Ohio Valley has a 3 day double points race AND the Doorslammer Nationals.

With London, Ohio Valley, and Bowling Green having major events I will bet we won't be crowded at CC.

I like the idea of doing 2 races Saturday and having Friday be the Pizza Hut night. Very flexible though...
I wonder if CC would let us come in Fri eve and drop cars/trailers and hang a bit, even if no racing??
I don't like the idea of big crowds for this event.

I would vote no to going to Bowling Green, (or other crowded venue/event). That is a bit far for me, and if we (the track) can get our act together for 2 races on Saturday for the slant 6's, I am okay with that!

Yeah, 2 races Sat would be ideal and then we could just hang out and be together Friday eve. Probably would have to move the Seymour Pederson service to earlier on Saturday?

It's looking like I will not be able to make it. I won't make a decision untill next week. Peg is in rehab, and her insurance will cover for two weeks. Then she will be coming home. I think she will need constant care for another couple of weeks after that. I don't have anyone that can take my place for that kind of care. I'll keep you up to date, but doesn't look good.

Aaron replied to my message right away, asking about dropping off trailers or renting the track Friday night.

No problem at all with dropping trailers on Friday.
For Friday trailer drop-off, the gates will need to remain closed and only be opened as each racer arrives. We will need someone from your group designated to manage the gate and make sure it is closed immediately after each racer enters.

You also have the option of doing a Friday track rental. We can handle that one of two ways:

OPTION 1 — $1,500 MINIMUM

Your group guarantees the $1,500 minimum operating cost, and Kentucky Dragway will also promote Friday as an open Test & Tune to help bring in additional racers and cover the remaining operating costs.

OPTION 2 — $2,500 PRIVATE RENTAL

Your group rents the track for $2,500 as a completely private, closed test session. Friday would not be open to the general public or outside Test & Tune racers. Your group would provide us with a list of approved racers and crew members who are permitted to enter.

Either option works for us. We just need to know which direction your group would like to go so we can plan staffing and track operations accordingly.

I take it that racing on Sunday is out of the question?
