just bought a motor that has been sitting for a year - has a 100,000 km on it. It is a Hydraulic cam motor. It runs fine but the lifters are very noisy - any ideas on how to fix this. Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you let it run long enough to pump oil to the lifters? When I leave my hydraulic lifter slant 6 truck sit for a couple months the lifters are noisy for the first minute until they refill with oil.

Put an oil pressure guage on the engine and see what the pressure is.
A hydraulic SL6 has a long path for the oil to travel to get to the lifters.
(oil has to fill the rocker arm shaft and go down the hollow pushrods to pump-up the lifters)
Pull off the valve cover and start the engine to see if it's oiling up there, trace the oil's path to be sure there is no blockage or leaks along the way.

it has 30 lb at 700 rpm hot and 50 lb at any thing above 1000 rpm .

You can take apart hydraulic lifters and clean them. Just do one at a time, or put them all in different containers so that you don't mix up any of the inner parts. They are probably just gunked up. I had ticking lifters in my old Fury (383) and never made a noise after they where cleaned.

can i take the lifter out with the head on i think the motor is a 86. thanks for the help

Yes, you canget the lifters out on the "wide valve cover" SL6 without removing the head. It takes a lot of "fishing" but it can be done. The lifter puller tool from KD tools helps a lot with this job.

pulled all the lifters out clean them all .they are getting lots of oil when it runs still some clicking now so i think its time for new one .thanks for all the help
