Just picked up my engine from the machine shop today. It's a long rod 225. We ended up with 9.5:1 compression. I figured i'd save a little money, and do the assembly myself, so that's what i'll be starting next. Hopefully this thing goes together easily. I also have a 2bbl intake/exhaust for it. I'm building this car for gas mileage so we went with a stock cam and heads are also stock. This is going into a '65 valiant, so it should make a fun little car. Pictures of the car are at the following address, along with some pictures of how the engine started. It looks much better now.

Wow, you are making good progress.
Take your time on the assembly, ask lot's of questions if you are unsure about anything.

It is good to see this car coming back together, I saw it run at Bristol a few times, It was one of the first EFI Slants around at the time.

How long are the rods you're using?

The rods are a set of 198 rods i got from the drakes. I can't remember the part number on the pistons, but i have to pick up my invoice for everything done on the engine tomorrow, so i'm sure that will be on there. I'll post back and let you know.

So doctor dodge, i've rebuilt a big block mopar before, but never a slant. The only thing i had him assemble was the rods to the pistons, and the heads. So pretty much everything else has to be done by me. Anything i need to watch out for during assembly? I think tomorrow is going to be a big cleanup day for all the parts, so that i know everything is clean.

There is also a couple other car pics i threw in, and a picture of the engine out of my satellite i am reassembling now after having the heads milled .123". Let me know what you think.

I forgot, i also had him install the cam bearings, i didn't have any tools for that, so i figured i'd spend a couple buck and let the machine shop do that.
