Finally getting around to installing my Holley 5200/Weber DFAV clone with a TD Performance one to two barrel adapter and have a few questions:

Is it possible to keep my charcoal cannister functional, by plumbing the cannister purge line into the base of the carb adapter? Maybe tee it into the PCV hose? I'd like to keep it if I could, since I spent a couple weeks after work trying to find one that wasn't broken and spewing charcoal.

The fuel inlet on the carb is small enough that I can plug the opening with the tip of a ballpoint pen. I'm concerned about problems arising from too much pressure before the inlet. Should I pull the inlet and drill it out to a larger size?

Any help would be appreciated, as always.

I thought this was a question about barbecuing. Here in TX we like to barbecue w/ mesquite, not charcoal.

But best of luck,

Joe

The purge line is usually connected to a ported port. This port has no vacuum at idle, but has vacuum after the throttle blade opens a bit. The purge port is usually a little higher up than a ported vacuum advance port. Look at your old carburetor to see where the port is in that one.

This is so there is no extra fuel vapors coming in during idle to mess up the fuel mixture.
If there is no appropriate ported port it might be possible to rig up something else. One of my Mopar vehicles has a purge line T'd into the PCV valve but I think there was an additional control element to control when it purges. Some vehicles have an electric sololenoid to control the purge process. So maybe you can rig up something.

Hmm, guess I'll just let the purge line vent to the atmosphere (through a filter) for now, while I try to find a purge valve or solenoid I can retrofit to my setup.

Okay, now onto the fuel inlet question... Any takers? :D

OH, I forgot to reply about your fuel inlet.

DO NOT MESS WITH IT.

I have to go now but will post more info about this later.
