I'm helping my neighbor with his car. 67 dart a/c car with throttle cable.

It is an offenhauser intake with 500cfm edelbrock. We have the offy 5270-A adapter kit, but will need to fab the cable bracket. Also, the instructions with the kit aren't that great. I could use a few pics for reference.
Thanks in advance.
Glenn

Czech out the pics of the setup on my Duster in the "Slixer's Gallery", just to give you some ideas. It's fairly straightforward, I home fabbed the aluminum slotted piece, but it doesn't have to be that complicated. In my case, I went against my better judgement and first tried a Holley, since I didn't use the standard Chrysler adapter, the offset was different when I went to the Carter, so I had to modify what I had already done to compensate. The other parts were from a two-piece setup robbed from a small-block Chrysler, and a spare cruise-control cable adapter.

Can I make one suggestion? Buy and install an aftermarket kickdown cable instead... They weren't readily available when I set mine up years ago, and I plan to switch over myself, just haven't gotten around to it. It's just a much better setup overall.

We need to also get the standard chrysler adapter for the carb, correct? I'm talking the piece that holds the stud for throttle cable to connect to?

On the kickdown, you're talking just a basic lokar cable set-up?
Thanks

Yes and no. Since this was never a factory installation and you will basically be engineering things from scratch or available pieces for other applications, you may or may not find the adapter beneficial.

You will definitely need to find, buy or make something to hold the throttle cable and mount it in a suitable location.

Yep. You're welcome.

I have a 390 cfm holley, and I also need that piece that hold the throttle cable to the carb... Would Holley sell this piece? I am not sure about making it from scratch, don't know what to do...On Mopar v8's , they used Holleys, is their connection the same? thanks

This is what the lokar setup looks like on my car. Granted this is on a GM throttle body, but its identical for the previous 390cfm holley I had on there before hand. The bracket and both cables are the lokar pieces.

Its big, im sorry, but if you can see mine, I too have a 500 eddy on my motor, I took some 3/16" steel bent a dog leg into it, I also welded in a bracket to make it to rigid. enough to grab the manifold exhaust stud from my offy, so theres one bolt there. The second bolt is held on by the ear of the carb. I have the lokar kickdown, factory throttle cable. kickdown return spring on it too. Let me see if I can find a better picture.

Pierre, do you remember the part number for your Lokar cables?

Bracket: SRK-4000
Kickdown Cable: KD-2904HT
Throttle: Erp, Can't remember. I swear I posted it on here before but can't find it now. Anyhow, it wasn't a special one, but their universal 36" Hi-tech line (the standard is black like a stock one). They have it availible in 12, 36, and 48" length but the 36" one was plenty long but I figured trimming was better then coming up short. I still left a little loop in mine just incase something happens in the future and it needs a trim.

The kickdown I used whole, untrimed.

A tip: to trim the cable sheath neatly, you can do it one of two ways. Wrap masking or electrical tape around it tightly, then cut through it with a fine tooth blade on a hacksaw, or use a dremel or grinder with cutting disc. Otherwise it comes out very frayed and sloppy. A sharp, long handed cutter works on the inner cable. Don't use a pair of wire strippers or you may end up breaking them.

Pierre, did you get the GM throttle body to fit with a Holley bolt pattern? I've been looking at options for putting a throttle body on my Offenhauser intake after I realized my box adapter wouldn't work with boost.

The adapter in my picture is from howell, their GM TBI to holley 4 barrel. The two empty holes on the left, the hole the lokar bracket gets held on to, and one more hole hidden by the throttle body make up the holley 4 barrel pattern. It comes drilled and tapped for the GM TBI pattern.

What I did was drill the holes for the clifford pattern to mount it to the manifold, and used one of the remaining empty holes for the holley pattern to bolt the bracket to.

There are two other solutions. You can use a supersix manifold and howell's gm tbi > 2 barrel adapter (double check to make sure that their 2 barrel pattern also matches the manifold pattern because I believe there are a couple different 2 barrel patterns but I'm pretty sure they are the same) or, since you have the offy manifold already, use the offy adapter then a howell adapter on top. This may lead to hood clearence issues.

I think redrilling the howell 4 barrel adapter to match your manifold is the best thing because it will also leave you with an easy way to use the lokar linkage. They do sell the adapters seperately for $50ish. Otherwise, buy a slab of alu. and have at it.
