I have a 225 out of a 1968 power wagon, 4 speed, upon inspection, I found excessive crank shaft end play.
The rear of the thrust bearing is paper thin, and the crank has been damaged on the matching surface. Contact occurred between the crank and cap/block, looks like crank got the worst of the wear. Any experience with this?
The engine was free, so still a gain even if the I can’t use the block & crank. May be I can find a early crank, if the block is OK.
I intended to rebuild this for my 64 Dart, allowing me to continue to drive the 200K+ engine that is in there now, and do a weekend swap. It’s a daily driver for me.
Love this site, got me fired up to hop up the Dart.
Thanks.
Ross.

Your path of least resistance is going to be a different crank. They're still plentiful in California. Try to find a '67 or earlier crank so you don't have to install the adaptor bushing (assuming you've got an automatic trans).
