I'm going to put a new carpet in my 76 Valiant Brougham, but I want to change the wiper arm gaskets in the cowl because they're dry rotted and leaking a bit. Is it possible to change these from the outside, or do I have to go through the dash to get to them?
Another problem I'm having is with the AC Compressor. The only wire I can find on the entire unit is a blue 8 inch piece that is hooked up to the front of the compressor. zThe other end of it has a disconnect coupling, or whatever you wanna call it. I can't find anywhere in the engine bay where it could possibly connect to. Would it run to the fuse box, or to the wiring harness...?

You have to go from under the dash to replace the wiper pivot seals(stupid, stupid design, but copied on way too many cars).

Can't help you on the AC compressor, the first chance I got I ripped mine out :D

There was a post somewhere that said they installed valve stem seals on the outside shafts and it cured their leaking problem. I've never done it, but it sounds like something to try before tearing into the dash.

"one wire" is correct on the compressor -- the wire it connects to will be blue or black and will run through the firewall to your A/C selector switch.

Wiper reseal kits are available from Schumacher Creative Services. "Some disassembly required" including unbolting the wiper pivots from the inside.

Thanks for the information. I'm sure the AC was disconnected for a reason, but maybe I'll get lucky and the compressor will still function. I've heard about th gaskets being available from Shumacher, but I really don't want to tear the dash apart, it's in mint condition. I have access to various rubber orings at work, maybe I'll try a few of those before I tear into it
