Related to my other post.

I am have some problems with the adapter plate on the Holley/Weber adapter at the base of the carb and I am wondering if I can hook the PCV to the tree on the number 6 cylinder? Or is this not adviseable because #6 would get the full load from the crankcase?

I have an extra tree that I think was on a car that had power brakes and it has a large nipple for a hose. My car has manual brakes. Also my intake does not have a hole that I can find on the manifoled below the carb as I have seen on other models.

The original Holley 1 barrel had a nipple at the base of the carb itself. The Holley 5200 does not have it but the adapter does, however I caused a crack in the plate and prefer to plug it. I could drill and tap another hole in the base of the plate if I had to.

BTW I have a two barrel intake manifold on there now.

74 Scamp 225.

No. The PCV goes on the valve cover, to draw out crankcase vapers. Hence the name: Positive Crank Ventelation.

Eric W, Does your pcv have just one end?

Textoad, I think it would be best to "spread" the crap more evenly around the engine, but I am no emissions-stuff guru, just seems more logical to me...

Sorry I meant to say the hose from the PCV that normally goes to the intake for manifold vacuum.

I tend to agree it should be more evenly distributed. I bought a tap and I'll tap the hole better and sink the fitting in past the hair line crack on the carb adapter.

Thanks

Yep, others have covered it—you need to run the PCV hose from the valve to the plenum area of the intake manifold, not to the #6 runner (which would cause number six to run lean and the valves in that cylinder to burn, burn, burn!). Hairline crack in your carb adaptor? H'm, wonder if this is causing some of your driveability faults.

One "quick and clean" way to rework your PCV, since your camshaft renders EGR irrelevant, would be to pick up the EGR blockoff plate available all the time on Ebay, drill and tap it and put in a fitting that will accept an 11/32" (i.e., 3/8") hose. This would not work, however, if you are subject to visual emissions equipment inspections where they specifically look for the EGR valve.

Now that's an idea. No they haven't looked every time I've gone in.

And BTW I finally did get it to pass by going lean on the jetting and timing and such. No visual here.

Now I'll have to look into this idea. I could make a plate easily using aluminum. I even have some. Then I could just plug the adapter with a plug and sealant. It's such a small hairline crack that I find it hard to believe it's causing my problem but hey I'm desperate.

Thanks Dan.

Hmmm :D

There y'go. Make sure to use a new EGR gasket, which is handy 'cause then you can just use it as a guide, and make sure you drill/tap the plate in the correct location to line up with the intake hole, not the exhaust hole.

The ones I was thinking of are These

Ok I fabed a plate and put 1/8 NPT elbow adater to a nipple and then 3/8 fuel line hose up to the stock PCV valve. The grommet gives a decent seal. Thanks Dan for the suggestion. Now I'll update my other post on the stalling problem.
