Pertronix...Is it worth the money, or should I just run points & a condenser?

Any electronic ignition is worth the money, whether its Pertronix, the factory electronic ignition, MSD, etc. Its much more reliable than points, plus you don't have to change points anymore...which is a pain on the slant six.

well for $60 on ebay the pertronix is pretty cheap. I have regular points in my car still, but plan to upgrade at some point. The only drawback of pertronix is if it fails, you'd better have some points on hand. But, same could be said for regular electronic ignition and the ballasts--which also I've read are prone to fail. Since I have neither, no personal experience here =)

Just keep the points in the car somewhere, just in case...
The way the dist is positioned on a slant, I would go for any electronic setup.

It's no contest... Unless your goal is 100% bone stock original or you're just cheap or lazy (like me!), 'tronic wins hands-down. Pertronix is the simplest deal, and super-easy to reinstall your points if you encounter problems on the road.

My junkyard HEI conversion was well worth it.

I have the petronics in my '62 valiant and it runs great. I also have the factory electronic ignition conversion in my 1961 300G (413 with two four barrels), and it works a lot better than the old dual point ignition. I highly recommend both. The Chrysler has been running great for years, and the Valiant has run without a problem since I installed the Petronic six months ago.

I put the pertronix in my dart just after I bought it. Havnt touched it since (which means it works great... set it and forget it!). I also keep the points and rotor in the trunk just in case.

So, Yes, like others before me, I think its well worth it.

While my '67 Valiant Signet is not a slant six car (its a 273 V8), I've installed the Pertronix Ignitor plus the Pertronix Flame Thrower "black coil" back in the fall of 1999. I've even peeled the logo sticker off the coil for that "Clark Kent" look. Five and a half years later, the system, like the Energizer bunny, is still going.

That still hasn't stopped me from stashing the points and condensor in the Pertronix carton and kept in my glovebox in case of any problems on the road

I have ran points, stock EI and MSD.

Currently I'm very happy with my MSD 6 AL setup, no ballast resistor to crap out, and I carry a points distributer on my trunk just in case

I followed the instructions in this article in converting my '64 Valiant 225: http://duster.netfirms.com/tech/hei.html
The distributor came from a '70s slant (the module was already gone), and the HEI module, connectors, and module screws came from a Corvette and a Cadillac nearby. A little wire, a couple of connectors, solder, and it was done.
I doubt it's really any better than the factory EI, but it does work well.
By the way, I'm running an old yellow Accel SuperStock coil and no ballast resistor.

That link is pretty cool. Golduster put that up years ago. Twas all the rage back in '01. A more complex HEI/mopar deal is the 7 pin module inside the lean burn distributor for use with a GM 747 ECU for TBI fuel injection. You get spark ,,,,advance ,,,and trigger for the Fuel injection.

I want this car. Please give it to me. It is #1 on my procurement list for when I hit the lottery, but you could make things a lot simpler for me! ;)

I can't say that I blame you. I always wanted a 300F convert, and in the mid 1980's I bought a basket case example, completely apart, but ready for the cancer to be removed and then reassembled. When I realized I didn't have the expertise or local fabricators to complete the project I traded it for this G. The F convert is the rarest and most beautiful of all the 300's, to me; they only made 248 of them, all together. The G is Mardi Gras red, was restored in 1989, and will get a new paint job in a couple of weeks. I do like this car! Thanks for your compliment.
