I hate to say, but my mopar was attacked by some punk kids in Sacramento trying to steal a stereo. I swapped cars with my sister so i could replace her tie-rods and she needed a car to drive, so i said she could drive the valiant for the weekend. Well on the first night someone was looking for stereos and saw my car. They smashed the window, used a crowbarbar to bend the dash back so they could remove the stereo, ripped the door panels when taking the speakers and tore the seats with the broken glass. It made me feel sick to my stomach when Isat in it afterward Knowing they were in there. Man i would've loved to catch them in the act and cracked them in the face with a bat  . I could care less about the stereo but I dont even know how to fix this. Would a body shop be any good in reshaping the dash? Luckily there is an abandoned 68 valiant 2dr at my buddy's where I can get the window.

If you carry a baseball bat in the car, be sure to include a baseball so you can say that the bat is for baseball related activities. (I once got hasseled by the cops for having a bat in my car,... ahhh the days of youth  )

These days, I simply keep a tire iron down next to the outboard drivers seat track, ya never know when you will need to quickly change a flat!

Hahahaha.. thats funny DD. I'm from new york, one of my friends was driving when a cabbie cut him off and almost caused a big pile-up.. So he got out of his work van with a bat and went to town on the cab- smashed whatever could be smashed-got arrested- this happened mid-day in manhattan, hehe, and was told by the boys in blue to do the same thing -keep a baseball or two in the truck.
It does suck though.. i'm using an 89 astro van to pick up parts for the duster.. last winter some moron did the same thing to me. smashed the window, only to steal a broken $20 tape deck with a led zep take stuck inside.. I was thinking about getting one of those tiny button cameras. but the astro aint worth protecting..

We carry a tire iron in all our vehicles to kill deer. Ive had 2 hit me in the last year. My GF hit one in the wagon 2 weeks ago and I had to pay/fix it myself becuase you are only allowed 2 comprehensive claims a year.
The tire iron is used to put them out of their misery. Why? If they are alive and in your vehicle (smashed through side window of wagon) they can kick you and your vehicle to death. Four years ago I punted a large elk right out of a national park with the Valaint. Made for a lot of paperwork.

By the way....you hit them just under the ear. Just like pigs. I get a new iron for next time.

Where do you city guys hit the vandals?

sounds to me that in this situation you would have just ended up with a stolen bat.

the funny thing is, it was a cheap Jensen deck from target. in fear of messing up the dash when i installed it, all i did was slide it in, no locks or screws. All they had to do was slide it straight out. But i guess they had not enough time to figure that out because they didnt finish the job. idioits. Anyways I got the new window today, went to town on the dash with a dolly and hammer, pinned the door panels in as best i could, took the deck apart and beat it back to square. After the window is installed, you wont even be able to tell what happened...except for the crowbar scars :?

What do I carry in my car (when I'm in it)? .38 revolver.
Smith and Wesson, the original "Point and Click" interface!

I'm sorry to hear that your ride got vandalized.

Has anyone seen that car in either Europe or Australlia with the propane defense cannon. Someone tries to bust in and BOOM! Huge fireball flashes them. It is non fatal however I'm sure something like that would ward them off. Theres another defense mechanism i read about in Car&Driver. when someone tries to break in, a metal bar swings from under the side of the car and breaks their shins. Ouch
