I know this topic will be a re-hash, ad nauseum, for many of you regulars, but I'm moving toward a super six arrangement to un-do all the lean burn and I'm just stuck. Here's how I got the truck:

distributor with no vacuum advance, but a ballast resistor wired in, somehow. Air pump, associated hardware and plumbing gone. It starts and runs dependably, but very anemic power.

I've accumulated a super six cast iron manifold, a Holley 2280 carb, and have run into the dead ends on the Mopar conversion kit..all say it's discontinued..the one with the distr, wiring harness, etc. Other dead ends I've encountered is no carb-mounted choke that I can find (cfiworld, etc.) and I'm no closer to being able to tell the parts house what distributor body I need with vacuum advance.

I've seen the wiring diagram out on many sites, once all the hardware issues are solved. Has anyone here put all this knowledge in one place? the distributor to use, the Mopar wiring harness number, the carburetor and choke that is the best choice nowadays, etc.? (maybe a 5200?).

I've enjoyed all the posts on the combination of vacuum and mechanical advance that are optimal, but it's all greek to me at this point... guess it's because I haven't been into a VA distributor to see the color of the springs.

Please don't get all caught up in a tutorial if you've done it before, but I'd appreciate being pointed to any consolidated information you know about...

Tom

We don't mind pointing you to the info if you don't mind reading.

http://www.slantsix.org/articles/leanbu ... rticle.htm

This is a good primer for the wiring and distributor.

http://www.slantsix.org/articles/supersix/article.htm

This is the info for the carb and intake stuff.

If you are really stuck, I would be willing to pick out a place that you could purchase a distributor that will work. Anything you need for the conversion is available if you know what to go looking for.

You'll still have questions after reading, but that should get you moving.
