I've alluded a couple of times to my new motor. Well, here's the specs:

64 block - bored .060 over
head milled .100
Offy 2x1 with BBSs
Clifford 6x2 going to two Flowmaster 40s.
Pertronix Ignitor
Recurved distributor
Special grind cam (Doug Dutra grind)
Ported head
Other stuff

AND - the best part is the Doctor Dodge himself did the rebuild! I now have an official Dutra motor!

It's fast and smooth and makes a nice snarly sound.

Doug went the extra mile, and even fixed some "non-motor" issues that the car had.

I know that Doug's been super busy recently, but if you ever get the chance to have him do some of his magic for you, take it...

Please don't ask me the cost or the cam grind specifics. (Doctor-patient privilege).

I think it was luck on my part getting the Doc involved!

Yes, the wires are Accel 5047R Super Stock Spiral Core. They are actually for an "A-motor." But I didn't think they would be that much longer.

I was wrong.

But on the bright side, they add a lot of color to the passenger side of the engine! :)

And it was fun weaving (er, routing) them.

I'm glad to have helped on this engine rebuild, you have a really clean car with some nice equipment.
Seeing I had a chance to drive the car before and after, it was really cool to feel how much the car "came alive" once we got the new engine in there. (the old engine with the flat cam was not "happy")
I have to say that the timing of this job worked-out well, today, I could not take-on a project of this scope seeing that my new job really has me "hopping".

Yes, it's been a labor of love. As you know, it's also a daily driver, and I drive it from Oakland to San Jose twice per week, and to San Francisco twice per week. And this doesn't count all the errands I run on weekends.

It's always fun having the oldest car on the road. (And a surprisingly fast one at that).

Just a little friendly tip on your plug wires.There is something called cross firing.This happens when your plug wires cross and touch each other.This can lead to pre-ignition which isnt good for your motor.I would suggest that you get the proper wires,with wire seperators for your car.

Summit has some accel wires for the slant for $24.00

I have shortened many sets of spark plug wires.
If you lube the wire you can pull the boot back, then look at the brass clip that is crimped on the end.
Many of these clips can be pulled open and removed, then you cut the wire and restrip the jacket to expose some center core, fold that over and recrimp the clip back onto the wire end. Done.

WOW again! I shaved my head .075 and it really woke it up with the 2bbl and custom cam. That motor must rip!

I have a 64 Dart that I've been flip-flopping on to fix or sell.... This is a great motivator to keep it & get it put together. Looks GREAT and I bet it runs like a champ!

Was it hard to get the duel BBDs set up?

Congrats on getting a great looking car done!

Thanks Doug for the tip on the wires. I'll give it a try (I have two extra wires to practice on)...

I'm not sure how hard it was to tune the two BBS's - DD actually did that part.

I did install the intake and headers a few months before the engine rebuild, and it wasn't super hard. For me, the hardest parts were rerouting the tranny lines (which have since been re-re-routed to keep them away from the headers), finding parts to complete the "rod" linkage (it was missing some parts, so I had to visit the hardware store), making sure that I used the right butterfly washers and cone washers in the right places.

Plus myriad other details that my memory has repressed.

Yes, I think it's pretty fast! It will actually snap your head back when you kick it down from 3rd to 2nd at highways speeds!

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the car.

It's come a long way since I rinsed about 30 pounds of caked mud from underneath the wheelwells the night I got it home five years ago.

Now gotta do the BRAKES!!!
