Hey I have an 86 dodge ram d100 with the /6. First off acceleration is awful but that's not the point of this question. Lately when i start gaining speed around 50 or so the engine starts cutting off, kinda sounds like the gas is not getting to the engine or sumthin. If you let off the accelerator it will cruise but as soon as you accelerate again it cuts off. And if you really push it, it'll die It really sucks because I love my truck. Please help!!!!

For starters, If it's a fuel problem.

Have you replaced the fuel filter lately?
Next, check for dry, cracked rubber fuel lines or rusted metal lines. Leaking fuel lines can draw air.

You may also have a bad gas cap that won't let enough air into the tank.

Have the fuel pump tested (or replaced)

Dirt or rust in your gas tank can clog the 'sock' inside the gas tank.

That should keep you busy for a few days, If you don't find the problem in that list, I suggest you write back your findings and we'll offer more direction.

Good Luck!

(When I try to take off from a stop quickly,it dies) i was just wondering if the problem is just purely from a bad rebuilt carb or if there is some way to adjust it without rebuilding it? thnx (86 ram d100)
