i been drivin my power wagon for about two weeks now, and it just doesnt have the get up and go i thought it should have. I did just have the valves redone, and i adjusted them myself so i think if someone could give me some specs, that would give her alittle more power...right now the intake is set to .15 and the exhaust is set to .30. It is only a one bbl so i guess i cant expect too much out of it. I also thought it wouldnt have such a big problem going up hills, i have to do alot of clutch work to keep the engine from dieing when im going up like dirt hills and what not.Oh its only got a 3 spd tranny...could this be a main issue for the amount of power i want?

If the carb is a Holley 1bbl, then check the main jet size. Bigger isn't always better, but if it's below a 55, then it's a good bet you are lean.

What size tires are you using? Big tires can make a heavy truck into a slug. It's also possible that your trucks gearing is just not planned for what you are doing. Some more info about your trucks gearing might pinpoint the problem.

What other tune up stuff have you done? If it's missing due to plugs, wires, distributor, coil, etc. it can feel very weak.

Timing? If your timing is too far advanced, your engine will really hurt under a load (such as climbing hills). You may want to do a little reading, and I know that if you search my name, you will find several topics on it in the past few months. Important timing topics are initial timing, vacuum advance, mechanical advance, and total timing.

You may never be able to keep up to your buddy's 440 or 360, but my truck climbs hills damn good when I'm not towing a load. My special upgrades are electronic ignition, super six and free flowing exhaust. It's also a 727 automatic transmission.

I also think the yellow paint adds a couple of horsepower

Uhh ... Shouldn't that be 0.010" intake, 0.020" exhaust, set hot and running?

Well a super six setup or new gearing isnt really in the budget at this point, but i will readjust the valves and hit you guys back with some info regarding how she performs. Thanks!

Time for some distributor recurve work.
Stuck mechainical advance, blown vacuum advance, and/or incorrect initial advance setting can all cause the low / no power feeling.
