Ok people, for first I live in Mexico City, Mexico, a 23 years old male who likes speed and loves his 71 Valiant Duster. As all speed fans I what to make my A body a street beast, a car that can run very fast in streets and racetracks, but the tricky part is that also needs to still work as a "all days common car". Any ideas up there??

I bought a Rochester QuadraJet and looking for a correct manifold for that carb, I hace increased the gas exhaust with a bigger tube and tip end, increased air intake below the 1 barrel Holley carb.

Also my Valiant is a 3 speed trans, but I got Demon´s 72 4 speed transmission, is a good idea to put that in my Valiant?

I will upload some pics of my ride soon, so you can see how it looks like.

Nice looking Duster. Welcome to the Forum.

There are several things you can do to wake up your Slant 6. You've already hit on a couple with the bigger carb and exhaust.

Depending on your mechanical ability there are more in depth things to do as well, like having the head milled for more compression, etc.

Your rear gear ratio is important to performance as well.

Do some looking around through the different threads and use the search option to look for certain topics. A lot of enhanced performance topics have been covered and will give you many ideas.

A 4 speed would be a good upgrade from the 3 speed.

I will roam around the forums and seek for some tips and start looking for needed parts to use my 4 speed trans.

Ok, I manage to get a Offenhauser manifold for my QuadraJet (just waiting to arrive), also I have removed my back seats, increased air intake from below carburetor, increased gas exhaust from exhaust manifold, a quick test and my gasket from exhaust manifold to exhaust tube broke with my record of quarter mille in 14.200

I run a 4speed transmission(3speed/overdrive) in my 72 dart swinger, with a set of 4:30 gears in an 8 3/4 rear and while it doesnt like to cruise on the Highway, it's not bad for running around town and it really takes off. the 4 barrel and headers are good power adders, and if you add a little higher lift cam/ plane the head to raise compression, you should have a pretty strong running /6 street and strip car.

You are running 14.20 in the quarter mile with a relatively stock set up? Did I not read that right? That is a very impressive number for a well built street car!

Ok, is quite simple, fist at all I got a Offenhauser inatke manifold and a Carter QuadraJet in the engine, also I manage to build another little buddy like this one for QJet:

(Picture out of date), so I got air incoming from air filter, and air coming under carb for meterx mixture air/gas, increased exhaust tube 1/2cm, some dry ice and removed weight like back seat and empty truck. Thats all the magic.

What 1/4 mile track do you race at in Mexico? Did you get a timeslip from the track? How did you verify the 14.20?

I didn't see a nitrous system going to the carb in the picture. Hmmm, we may need to take a trip to Mexico to learn some speed secrets. :D

A 14.20 in the 1/4 mile with the set up you're describing is too good to believe. I wish it were that easy.

Is a Official track here in Mexico, so people don´t need to streetracing (streetracing rulez!), and meaby can be fuel composition, but that time is my running time in 1/4 mille, and I don´t belive in NOS systems in a Muscle Car.
