Just re-did my manifold gaskets (No broken bolts or studs- Thank goodness), but when it came time to re-install the carb, I managed to over-torque the mounting nuts and cracked the base-plate(D'oh!). My question is this; is it possible to have the carb welded (it's a Holley 1920 in pretty good shape- other than being in two pieces!)? Or am I insane for even thinking of it? I'd buy a re-build, but I know this one works (worked) and financial constraints make it a bit dicey. Help Please!

I don't think you'll have much luck with a repair. My advice would be to get a used carb to salvage parts from.

Better get a new carb, I really don´t think it can be welded, even repared.

That's just as I feared. While I'm at it, I was thinking of replacing the automatic choke with a manual set-up. Any advice?

Get a good plastic sleeved cable at NAPA.
