Hi, the dipstick went missing on my 1962 signet 200 3spd pushbutton tranny behind the 225 slant six. can anyone inform me of the proper length of that stick so i can check the level?

losing it is a fun story, as i had checked fluid levels, forgot to replace stick, dropped the hood, went driving, and the hood flew open as i got up to 50 mph on the interstate. the hood catch had not caught! good news is that the hood stayed on and i stopped quickly. bad news is the dipstick went flying.

pulling on the hood after closing is now on the checklist.

Oog.

Since fractions of an inch matter, your best means forward is to get a replacement dipstick. I am fairly certain any A904/slant-6/A-body dipstick should work correctly.

And lubricate that hood catch!

I have several different lenght dipsticks and tubes, for the 904. If you can measure the tube lenght from the trans case to the top of the tube, I can give you the dimensions of the stick.
