I got a timing cover free, and wanted to know if this would work for me. I plan to install A/C in the future, so my tab on the 62 engine would be hard to see with the compressor there. This one has the tab farther up but still on the driver's side. I didnt' find the damper with it, but I'm still looking.

Anyway here it is. You can see there is a little blue paint on it, so I'm not sure what year they started painting the engines blue.

Thanks

MJ

Looks like a '68-'74 item to me.

It does look very much like the one on my '74 Dart Sport. It's easy to read the timing mark from the passenger side (looking underneath the alternator and bracket).

yes...68-74
be sure to use the correct dampener with that cover or check for true TDC and remark the one you have.

Doug, I'm not sure if you've ever seen the "shed" at Jim's place, but to find this cover, I traversed no fewer than six precariously placed engine blocks, including a V8 and something else I didn't recognize, about 10 transmissions, and other stuff just piled in however it would fit. Carbs and other small parts complete the experience by making it seem like you're climbing on ball bearings as everything gives loose randmonly.

My chances of finding the damper that went with it are pretty small! :D There were some smaller diameter ones, but I didn't think they were the correct ones. I think we'll go with marking the one I have ;)

Thanks guys!

Menko
