Who knows anything about a F.I.S.H. carb. If they work, it may be a nice slant 6 street carb.

Ah, yes, the fish carburetor. Subject of the "Amazing 300mpg carburetor!" books you used to be able to order via classified ads in the back of Popular Mechanics magazine. It worked so well that Big Oil, Inc. bought up the rights and shelved it. Within six months of this, the inventor and his whole family disappeared without a trace, never to be heard from again. If I wuz you, I'd keep quiet about it. Otherwise Big Oil's goons might come around to, er, neutralize ya!

Very well said, zilla. That's exactly what the fish carburetor is. It works entirely by venturi action...just like the predator, only smaller. I stumbled across a website where a guy's reproducing the Fish carb with a 2" throat, and he's charing $850 each for them...I find that shocking.

I remember reading Dave Vizard books from the early 80s and he went off on a Fish carb tangent. Actually the variable venturi thing is on solid theoretical footing, but i think it was the weird marketing more than anything else that killed it...

Wait, did we just respond to a 3-year-old thread??

Yeah...that'd be my fault...somehow I got connected with some conspiracy website about the 300mpg carburetor, the pogue carburetor, and the later Fish carb. And I figured I'd look it up on here and see if anyone had anything to say about it. Just fun...so yeah, I revived a three year old thread.

I'm glad you dug this up. The link to the site was great. Full of fun NASCAR stuff.

I ran one on mine before I switch over to the fuel injection. It was pretty cool, defintely good on gas and GREAT on power. I mean it was insane that it felt like a 2 barrell and turned into a six pack like that!
It was even cooler when it froze up...

Huh? What did you run? What turned into a 6-pack? The 6-pack froze?

No it just could really run lean or dump the fuel. It was a real interesting idea, the only downfall was the carb would freeze up. My old man had it laying around he had bought it for a 400 ford truck a while back to improve the mileage. He said he got a good improvement and it never lacked power.
