im trying to decide if I should paint my car a new color. It has the original paint right now, it is not to bad, the only problem with it is on the left quarter panel from some rust holes half way bondo from previous owner and touched up with paint, and a dent there also touched up with paint. im not sure if repainting it will lower the value of the car.

same here, im in the same position. my 73' is actually my first car and i think i got a good ride to. I dont want to sell it! I would like to paint it myself to save on labor, and since i know a bit about painting, and i know people who can paint as well, im sure I can do a good job. Im not sure what the cost could end out being and how much money I will save. Ive figured out it should be no more than $100 for paint alone.

Just remember - Prep Prep Prep. The best paint job in the world will not hide poor bodywork, dents, etc.

yeah, im not to worried about the body prep work. I will need to do a nice job, im thinking of painting black most likely. I already have experience in some body work. Took a friends car that got hit on the side and a shop said there was $5000 worth of damage and we took the car and replaced the fender and took out the dents (shall i say crater) in the quater panel.
