Last I remember aobut the hyperpack was the castings were poor. Is this still the case?

I am going to get another clifford manifold to convert to MPFI (then sell my current one off, don't want to keep the car down too long). Figured I may as well spend the extra $100 for a hyperpack while I'm at it. What say yee?

The std 4bbl intake has 45 deg injector bosses cast right in that you can drill, hyperpak manifold does not.

I have a Hyper Pak that has bosses cast into it. Not sure what year it is.

Yup Lou I noticed that. I'm not so much as worried about the bosses because bungs can be put in. I just remember reading about awful casting quality.

My situation is that I have to buy another manifold, have it machined up, and collect all the parts. I got an estimate to do the machineing on the manifold, and the fuel rail, for $150 assuming no bungs installed and just drilling out the current ones, or $175 for bungs.

I'm aiming at doing the swap in one, max of 2 weekends (I know, its an ambitious goal) because I don't want to keep my car down for too long. Then I will sell off my current manifold once it is out. So, because the difference in price in converting either manifold to mpfi is insignificant, I'm thinking why not just go for the hyperpack? The hyperpack will also let me use the GM TBI I have now, instead of having to get a single barrel throttle body like you did Lou. (GM tbi would interfere with fuel rail)

Will it work ok with a stock 71 cam? The motor is bored 30 over, otherwise stock w/clifford headers. Or am I just talking nonsense and should just stick with the standard clifford manifold

Lou, did you ever get around to snapping some pics of your manifold w/mpfi setup?

Just how much advantage will a hyperpack give me in a daily driver? With 3.23 gears in the rear this motor sees, oh, probably 3500-4000 rpm at most on the freeways. Didn't I remember reading something about the hyperpack helping out only at higher rpm's?

Hpak is actually better for low RPM. Should work well with a "dry" intake system since there will be no fuel condensation.

I have pics somewhere, just need to put them up... :? :o

I was pleasantly surprised when I called clifford to order the manifold I had intended to modify to MPFI. They said they already had a batch machined and ready for mpfi, also had matching fuel rail. Larry said clifford had made a run of MPFI manifolds because their intent was to sell an MPFI kit, but those plans fell through and they went with the weber tbi kit. So he had these parts collecting dust....

The rail has hose barbs at the end, 3/8" on one side, 5/16" on the other. The manifold, he said, is same price as the regular one so it was $289 either way. The fuel rail was $20 (black powder coated). The adapter, free. With $20 tax because we are both in california, and $20 shipping, the total damage was $350. Sweet deal if you ask me....

He said he wasn't sure what TB the adapter was for... the center bore measures 55mm. I probably won't be using it, 55mm is a bit on the small side. Plus, with the intake air tubing adding more height it would probably hit the hood.... I am going JY hunting soon and will be looking around to see what I can put together.

All in all interms of manifold/rail its a pretty turnkey solution, only manufacturing to do is the tiedowns. And, if you look, those raised areas on runner #1, between #3/#4, and #6, are threaded and they don't go all the way through, so some bracketry that can be fabbed in a garage should be able to do the job.

I don't know. He said he had more, but never mentioned a specific number. And he gave me the rail for cheap because I bought the manifold from him, so if you want to buy the rail seperately it mayb e more then $20.

Heres what I have so far... that is an Isuzu 3.2L throttle body that I found at the junkyard sitting there... only one I spoted with a ported vaccum outlet for vaccum advance.
