We finally got my sons pickup running sweet. This truck has been in the family for years and is a solid first ride. One thing left is the exhaust manifold had a bad leak. I had the gasket replaced but the manifold should have been machined as we got that tick, tick, tick sound going. That's the only thing keeping this truck from being perfect.
I could spend $300 and have the manifold removed and machined or just have the kid live with it. I'm thinking that if we spend some money on the manifold only to have a perfectly quiet truck, that might not be too satisfying. Is there an exhaust kit that we should consider when doing this to give the truck a little bit of a growl?

Come on guys, I'm needing some help here. The kids got to have a little tail hanging out or I'm gonna have to buy him some sort of present day machine. I can't afford that.
Thank you.

Okay, since you have a teenager who likes things that are noisy, how about a set of Dutra Duals with 2 inch dual pipes all the way to the back with Flowmaster mufflers.

Or, you can keep the stock manifold and run a 2 1/4 inch pipe that goes into a dual outlet muffler and run 2 inch pipes the rest of the way back. Don't want to go to big. Going with just one muffler will also keep the costs down since Flowmaster mufflers are about $50-$70 apiece. Don't use glasspacks and don't use Thrush mufflers unless you want your slant to sound like a herd of mosquitoes or a bumblebee on crack.
