Most of the export '62s got the 2,8-litre (170 CID) slant-6. A few got the 3,7-litre (225 CID) iron engine. None of the officially-exported cars got the 3,7-litre aluminium engine, though certainly somebody could have privately imported such a car any time in the last 43 years!

To tell what engine you have, look at the numbers cast into the side of the block below the manifolds, and also look at the engine ID number stamped on a strip about 9mm tall by about 40mm wide, on the block's top surface directly below the frontmost spark plug. Post the numbers you find and we'll help you figure out what you have.

Look at the bypass hose between the head and water pump. If it's about 2" long it's a 170. If it's about 4" long it's a 198 or 225. If it's got the long hose and a magnet won't stick to the block, it's an aluminum motor.
