I was wondering if there were any mega squirt users on here or not. If so how do you like it? How difficult is the software to learn? Did you see a MPG increase?

I was always planning on doing this conversion, but I am thinking about it even more now that oil is cresting $66 per barrel. I know my way around a computer, and I used to have a ferd 5.slow that I had equipped with with a Tweecer (allowed me to control the ECU with my laptop). Since I have a few parts left over (TB, set of 19lb injectors, maf) from the Moostang, I figured I kinda had a head start already. I still need to fix a few things on the Duster before I'll be confident enough to drive it everyday, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

TIA,
L.D.

Yup, I'm a megasquirt user.

MPG increase? minimal, maybe 1-2mpg, but I was running a GM EFI computer before that. Between my carb and the GM computer, yes, that was probably a 2-3mpg jump, I can't recall the exact figures.

The software has a learning curve like anything else, but it is relatively simple. I'd recommend it to anyone that would ask me.

FYI - megasquirt doesn't use MAF, it has its own built in MAP (or you can use your own MAP if you'd like).

OK I thought I read something about it using a MAP sensor. I work with a Honda guy who tunes his car with a MAP system. They sound a lot easier to work with since you don't have to deal with air mass and such.

I'm preparing a Megasquirt for my Dart, too. So far the priciest part of the conversion has been getting a shop to add injector bungs and build a fuel rail. It isn't all together yet, but it should be running by the end of the year.

Talk to Larry @ CLifford - he has the clifford 4 barrel manifolds with the bosses already drilled for $289 and the fuel rail for $20. Don't know if he has any of these left, I got mine from him a month ago maybe.

I have megasquirt on two of my cars (one MP-EFI, one TBI) and it works well.

Please do a search for "megasquirt" and/or "efi" on this site and do some reading before asking questions.

Lou

Yeah, my bad Lou. I did a search right after I posted this and found a lot of info. I usually search first, but the ol' brain wasn't in gear that day I guess.
