Has the motor been changed, do you think? What does the VIN on the dash say? Fifth letter...

Are you sure you're looking in the right place for the stamped numbers? They moved around in various years. What number is cast into the manifold side of the block?

Well since the motors from a 65 Barracuda, theres no VIN anywhere. Casting # is 2463430-2. Hopefully its not a 198.

I'm trying to get a 71 Dart up and running for a commuter, but I forgot a 65 crank won't mate to a '67+ convertor. sigh

This cheap project aain't turning out so cheap (or simple)

The 198 did not exist in 1965. It was made from 1970-1974.

2463430 is a '65-'66 block casting number, so unless somebody swapped-in a 198 crank and rods, you've got a 225 there.

True, '68-up vs. '67-down. You'd have to install a '66-'67 transmission or the torque converter, input shaft and part of the front pump, or else machine or swap the crank.

Thanks SSD

How can I tell if it is a 225 crank? The way my luck has ran lately, It's probably a 170 crank that some sicko spent large dollars to fit just to prove a point lolol

Most any converter company will make a converter with the small pilot on it too.

Hi slant. I figured someone would chime in with that suggestion. lolol

I have wondered if the crank register and 'vertor hub could be machined to "meet in the middle"
