ok i am new and i am dead set on purchasing a 1971 dodge dart with a 225 /6. this car is all original and has had only two owners (the current owner has had it for about 4 or 5 months).
should i leave it alone in the condition it is in? (the interior is beautiful and all original inside and out). or should i go ahead and begin the performance upgrades to make her fly?
just looking for opinions

Well your gonna have to decide your own "goal" for the car, if you want a nice clean all original daily driver, with some "mild unnoticable performance upgrades". then I think Dan and some of the others pretty much answered the question with some great suggestions. But if you are like I was, and your not worried about "originality" than there are definately some upgrades that can make your slant scream, and not cost you an arm and a leg. But it is up to you to decide what you want, and after you decide, there are a whole pile of guys on here who can help you pick the upgrades. whether its a 2 or 4 barrel carb, cam selection, rear gears, turbo's, nitrous, anything, there are guys on here who have tried them all, and we'll definately do our best to help make your decisions easier. in my opinion making it fly is more fun, (but alot more work).
Good luck + keep us posted on your progress

thanks a lot guys....
i have decided ( at least for now) to leave it mostly stock and show it a few times at local car shows as a survivor/original.
once i get the money (ha!) and time, i do intend to make this thing into an asphalt rippin', chevy eatin' machine.

and as an update, i just got the car today...drove it home and everything...she drives beautifully and handles nicely. i'll keep you posted
