Hey Slantzilla let me pick your brain a little. I'm running 15:40s at present in a 63 dart. I'm thinking a altered with a slant would be the ticket for me. What combo are you using? I've been thinking a 225 w/good pistons etc and alky would be killer. Know anything about NOS and alky being used togeather?
I've got the tubing and a glass bantom body so this isn't just a pipe dream I bought the dart to use as a donor for a 340, but damn the slant has been so much fun its hard to stop.

There is a thread going on now on .com about spraying alky with nitrous. Personally I think it is a bad idea, kinda like putting a bandage on a bullet wound. Run the system at a safe level on gas and you will make more power and less chance of putting your crank in the pan. Alky adds way too much fuel volume for our tiny little bores and chambers. Wet a plug and you're done in a hurry.

I am running low 12's on a 150 shot with a fairly mild motor, 3215#, and a 3.55 gear. Tube chassis bantam just oughta fly.

I'm guessing you should be able to get down to 1700#?

Thanks Slant, I hope to keep it down around 1500#. Seems I read in one of your post's that you are using 198 rods and were on the edge. Are the 198 rods that much smaller or weaker than the 225's. What are you using for a cam.

A well selected and "reconditioned" set of 198 rods will handle 300 to 350 HP. With a good engine and a 150 HP shot of NOS, you are well over 300 HP and into the "who knows" danger zone.
Good ARP con rod bolts are a "must" for any motor you will be spraying.

The 225 con rod is 6.7 long and the 198 rod is 7 inch. that .300 (over a 1/4 inch) does not sound like much but when put side by side you can see that the beam on the 7 ich rod gets thinner, it is a long "thin man" looking con rod.

198 rods will bend under a 150-175 fogger hit. I am running a 150 plate, which seems to be a little gentler at the "hit".

A fogger really needs to be "ramped" to soften the hit a little.
