or whoever know the answer to this:

I'm about getting an old dist machine, but I dunno how to modify (or what addon I have to build) for using it with chrysler electronic distributors (or any magnetic triggered pickup). The machine has 2 cables that connects to the points and one light is triggered off when the points do their job (break the circuit).

thanks in advance.

Juan, What make is the machine? Is it a "Sun"? Any chance you got the owner/operators manual, with it? I have a "Sun" machine, and would like to get copies of the manuals.

I dunno make. It's original Chrysler equipment (was from the main dealership from my hometown) The former mopar chief mechanic has it and offered it to me (My grandpa worked with him at the dealership, like 30 years ago) Bummer that he has the pre-1972 machine (our cars started to have fac installed electronic ignition in 1972). When I get it I'll ask him for manuals (wich he almost 100% sure threw away in 1960 or so :) ) and check up the make (It has to say something somewhere)

Why don´t you take a snap of yours and post it or send it to me? if it looks similar to mine maybe I can ask him the directions to make it work.

Also, I was looking on ebay the other day and found this cutie
(item number) 7998664982 a mallory dual points dist. Wich cars had this equipment??

later

I think you could make the hook up for electronic yourself..............

Just get a spare ignition module (or take the one out of the car along with the distributor). Wire everything properly, then hook up the wire from the ignition advance tester that would go to the points to the ignition module wire that went to the coil..............

Nice little piece, and a decent final selling price, too. I happen to have a complete YC type Mallory dual point, (without the tach drive), that I got about 25 years ago when I was selling auto parts.

Those were not offered as factory, or dealer-installed equipment at any time. They were an aftermarket item that one could buy at most parts outlets that also sold performance equipment.
I would not recommend using one in today's world, as they required a good amount of setup and maintenance. If one were building an old-school rod, and chose a slant as the powerplant, that would be ideal in order to keep that old-school appearance.

There was a dual points ignition setup - can't remmeber what it was called, may of been part of hte lean burn system? No, those were EI style magnetic pickups... hmm

Or maybe it was only on v8's that they came stock? I swear I've seen it in a stock application somehwere before
