Hey, I was reading your post and see that you bought an Aspen as a parts car. What are you gonna do with the car once you pull what you need from it?? Interested in selling parts from it? IF it is a 2 door, and the rocker panels are solid, I could use them, COMPLETE. How much?? E mail me at volaredon@netzero.net.

I heard that the car was rotten. I didn't see it, so maybe the rockers survived, but wouldn't get your hopes up. Everything here in PA gets rotten if it sees winter roads.

Luckily, mine isn't from PA, and only sees the garage in the winter. Too bad the truck is turning into swiss cheese.

Lou and Greg,

I called almost 300 times to McLeod in the times specified to try to get "Red", and never get past the busy signal. I have been calling since end of July and not getting thrugh got so predictable I started a little scratch line deal (4 down, 1 across = 5) to keep tabs on the call numbers). The lady in the office is very helpful, but always has advised me to call 'Red's" number, or says "REd" is busy on the phone (I know) . SO, since I want to talk to McLeod re. the topic of this thread, I wouldn't mind calling someone else...is Jonn Cox part of McLeod? Is his number different from "Red's"? I am to the point of just giving up on the adapter idea from McLeod, unless some you guys can get in to the phone line...in that case put me in for a group order if there really is such a thing as the adapter in the works. I got the checkbook ready fo the deposit or whatever.

Thanks!

Cox is not with McLeod.
Are you looking for an adapter for a 5 speed, bell housing, pressure plate/ disc/flywheel set up, or all of the above?

The reason it's so hard to get thru is that he stays on the phone as long as he needs to help the person. If you just want to order a PP/disc/flywheel, I believe you can order that online. The only thing available now is for a 4 speed.
Quote:
The part #'s are as follows:
Flywheel (listed for a slant six) - #464001
Pressure Plate (listed for a 3.7 liter Phord) - #360116
Disc (listed as 10" dual performance) - #260826
Bearing - #16053

The bearing is same as stock I believe so I don't know if it's necessary
Please note that the PP CANNOT be used with a stock flywheel. It has a different bolt pattern.
Mcleod's website is www.mcleodind.com
All pricing can be found on their online catalog.
Note:
If you are not using a OD bell housing, you may get interference with the PP. Mine was relieved by grinding the PP slightly.

Thanks much, sixty4! Now I'm gettin somewhere re. McLeod parts! I finally got an OD aluminum bellhousing (piece of luck there, Lou) only to generate another question that seem solvable in 2 ways: (1) I, unlike y'all am working on truck...a '64 d100, with a hydraulic clutch, slave cylinder, etc. I have a lot more room to play with then you car guys, but the OD bellhousing has the fork on driver side. I need it on the passenger side or move my slave cyl, etc and reverse the action on the fork. . SO I eased into the shop saturday morning to cut the OD bellhousing on passenger side, tig in a ball stud and solve that problem. OOOPS. Just barely not enough bellhousing there to do the deed. SO I was advised to look into getting a Tilton hydraulic throwout bearing and use my slave cylinder, etc. (2) OR use an early 318 OD bellhousing that has the fork on passenger side. You guys can see it is the six of one, 1/2 dozen of another situation. Before I engage a search for the 318 bellhousing, I would at least like to know if you think it would work for the 833OD with a hydraulic clutch...if not, darn if the Tilton doesn't intrigue me...having never seen one. Course, what I really want is a bellhousing to do it all...auto OD, 833OD and T5 because I so like to swap parts around. I am trying to avoid having three trannys mounted to bellhousings stacked like socks in a drawer.

Rock,

You need to come over to Chapel Hill and see my 64 Dart with McLeod hydro TOB. It's slick and does away with clutch fork and everything.

You found a BH already? I am picking up the one from Dartvader this weekend.

Just make sure whatever you order, that you specify, and double check that it is for the year crank hub you want. We ordered for a 1972 and it came through with the small hub registry. Not a big deal, and just an honest mistake I'm sure, but it did cost me $40 bucks to have it machined locally.

I was looking at Rick's old post. I see that you have the 9 11/16 pressure plate. This is the one I was talking about before. I think that is why you didn't have any interference issues, not necessarily because you have the OD bell housing. I think that this would be the better set up to buy. My 10" would probably have interference and I believe the 9 11/16" grabs just fine.
Here are those part #'s:

Pressure plate - Webber part # 360131 / 9-11/16" , 1.500" finger height

Clutch Disc - Dual Performance- Part #260804 / 9.5"

As far as the flywheel, use the number above. I would indicate the OD rather than the year (1.95" - '67 and under, 2.15" - '68 and up).

Rock - I second the suggestion on the McLeod hyd. bearing. I think you would be fine with the 9 11/16" PP unless you were doing some heavy towing. Then you might want the 10".

I don't have a time on the "group discount". I wrote in the "What tranny?" post that I think we should chose either the Toyota or Ford T-5, and then get an adapter made for it.

What are your thoughts on the speedometer cable and cross member. Is anyone looking for a complete kit, or just some parts? If so, what parts? How about the floor pan and driveshaft? The more I know, the more info I can try to find out.

Thanks

Man, thanks Sixty4! I feel as if I walking down a real dark tunnel with some good guides holding my elbows! I would vote foa T5 because I know the unit. ....what could Toyota ever had made that had metal in it besides the Landrover thing? Racist, ignorant, whatever here! And, too I am doing a truck that has a tad more room and metal than the cars...so no pan or xmember needed. However, I have a really good driveline shop here that REALLY balances shafts and also cuts them, welds them, adapts them. If someone needed that sometime. Many promise, few deliver, but will tell you it must be your U-joint, you lost a needle bearing, or undercoat on the shaft, you know.
