I swapped a 225 for a 225(1978), but i can't get the engine forward enough( 1 inche or so) The transmition wount line up to mount the cross member.
I am using original engine brackets, but using the new bell housing. The new bellhousing is bigger but not longer. I measured it over and over because I couldn't remove it at the time of the swap.

Is there any differences in 225 engines that I am missing?

Thanks :?:

I had this happen once, just the other way :?

My guess would be that the tranny crossmember was turned around at some time?????

There were at least two trans crossmember mount configurations.
All my 61 4 doors have the trans mount dead center of the crossmember
but with some of the other wheel bases the trans mount moves to just
forward of the crossmember. Maybe changing the cross member and
mount from a forward config to a dead center config could solve the
alignment issue.

What year is the car that the 78 engine is going into?
Is the oil pan hitting the backside of the K-frame?
If you are working with a 60-66 chassis, you may need to swap oil pans and the matching oil pick-up tube.
