I bought an interior cable hood latch release for Aaron's Dart. I think I figured out where its bracket mounts to the very leftmost end of the dash frame. Can someone tell me where the cable and grommet penetrate the firewall. See if you can use this pic as a point of reference:

Also, what goes through the hole in the firewall I am pointing at? It's too big for the grommet on the hood release.

The latch goes right next to your Map light switch, and the cable goes through a hole (you may have to drill, it will appear as a dimple if not equipped), near where the driver's side wheel well mates with the firewall...

will get pics later, have unitbit ready,

I remember someone saying that about a dimple, but we couldn't find one. Must have been looking in the wrong place. A pic would be appreciated. Maybe even one to show the cable's route through the front radiator support. :)

Any idea what goes through the extra hole I have identified??

Thanks much,
Jerry

Here's a couple of pics, I hope they tell you where better...basically go to the corner where the driver's side wheel well mates up with the firewall, just under the lip in the corner is the dimple....drill it, put the cable and grommet through, cable goes over the driver's side well nd loops around to the release bracket and release...

unitbit and maybe and extension (or a long 1/2" bit)...

good luck,

That hole that you have their is for the manual windshield washer pump. It holds a grommet that has two holes. In these two holes go two hoses, one goes from the washer bottle to the manual footpump (located above the dimmer switch), and the other hose goes from the footpump to the washer nozzles. Really unique setup, my car has it. If there was an electric washer pump then there was just a plug there.

Jeb is right, but a 'base' car will come equipped with all standard equipment and the floor pump...if you get the 'optional' luxo equipment then you get that nice inside hood release, and an electric pump washer bottle, and usually a 3 speed wiper motor too (and other nice stuff like chrome trim, map light, remote mirrors, day/night mirror, window tint...)

Perfect information, guys. I found the dimple just where it should be. It just needs a 1/2" hole drilled through it. Does the cable just lie loosely on top of the inner fender, or is there supposed to be some of those plastic tie-down clips?

This Dart came equipped with tinted windows, chrome trim, map lamp, electric wiper pump, 3-speed wiper motor, day/night mirror, but I'm adding the inside hood release myself.

And you're right, I have plenty of "spare" body plugs to fill that extra hole.

Thanks for all the help. Now, you need to fix my problem with the instrument panel. :D I did buy a new headlight switch today, so I'll try it tomorrow as a last resort.

Jerry
