Any one know how to fix this

Good: "Hi there. On my 1973 Scamp with 212,000 miles or so, the driver's door catch no longer lines up with the latch. I have to lift up the door to make it close. Anyone know how to fix this?"

Not as good: "Help I have door drop."

Without knowing more, here are my recommendations in order of difficulty form least to most:

(1) just loosen the striker and lower it so it aligns with the door

(2) losen the hinge to body bolts and adjust the door so the slack in the hinges is taken up by the alignment of the hinges to the body

(3) (the right fix) get a hinge rebuild kit and repair your hinges

The first thing I usually check is for door droop -
When you open the door does it sag - sound like it does if you have to lift it up to close it -
With the door partially open grab the end of the door by the handle and the bottom of the door - then lift very gently to see if there is movement - you are looking for movement in the door hinge pin- try this with the door open at different widths - it is helpful if you have some to help watch or lift - if there is play in this area, chances are the pin/ hole is worn -
the fix- go to the local parts store and pick up a hinge pin repair kit about $5- remove the hinge from the door (you may have to remove the door) and replace the the pin - reinstall and realign -

Remove the latch and striker. Bungee door shut.

I had this happen on my 97 Ram 1500. First I just readjusted the striker. But the door was already screwed when I got the truck. The sheetmetal was torn thru 2 of the latch bolts and crudely tack welded. About a month after I got it the tacks broke and i found myself with my arm hanging out to hold the door shut to get home!! . This was an old company fleet truck. I wound up going to the yard and found another that had been bashed in teh side and bought the hinges off of it. When I pulledthe door to change the hinges I wound up welding a piece of sheetmetal over the edge of the door, heating it and beating it into shape as I went. My garage didn't have 220 power for my MIG at that time so I welded it the old way... oxyacetylene torch and filler rod. I pulled the glass and stood the door up and "went to town". It actually came out beter than I thought it would.
Point is, DON'T let your hinges get that bad.... fix em now to keep what happened to my truck from happening to your car.

My uncle at a bodyshop used this trick on my '71 Satellite. He opened the door partially, put a board under it to distribute the load, and used a floor jack to lift the car by the door, bending the door a little - when he was done, it lined up great.

Are you sure the door has dropped?

Sometimes it seems that way, but actually the latch mechanism just needs lubrication.

What happed with my door was, I blow a wheel cyclender and lost brakes and T-boned a nission. The door works fine no sticking but the body lines don't don't match
