was talking to my friend about my slant and the subject of 3 carburators intake manifolds came up. my friend (jokingly) said why not six carburators?
aside from some crazy linkage and getting six carburators to run equally, is this even physically possible? i dont know much about 3 carburator setups so i couldnt say much there either. what are your ideas/facts/opinions on this crazy idea?

Too much carb. This has sort of been done with the lynx triple weber side draft manifold with each barrel feeding a separate cylinder. I think a better setup would be a "three-pack" with three Holley 1920s or 1945s set up like the "six-pack" motor with one normal carb in the middle and two vacuum operated (or mechanical) carbs, one on either side of the center one.

Yes. Or more, if you really wanted. Assuming you had appropriately sized carburetors, a rather interesting manifold and air cleaner situation, the aforementioned "crazy linkage", and very tedious and frequent synchronizing, it is certainly doable. I'd like to see a photo of a slant set up that way. I just don't want to build or maintain one.
It sounds like something you'd see on a rat rod. Not that that's bad, but it would not be practical or particularly desireable. More show than go. Getting carbs truly synchronized can be a pain, raised to the power of the number of carbs involved. Keeping them in sync is another story.
Any advantage would be aesthetic or theoretic. A single carburetor can be used to good effect, as proven by many of the board members here. Two can work well, and certainly look cool. I like the look of two or three side-draft Webers, myself.

if i recall correctly daniel mentioned an intake that was sold at some point that had six(?) briggs and scrapiron carbs on it. one of our south american brothers substantiated this setup exists. mr. stern?

6 motorcycle carb would work.


I'd use 6 CV40 sidedraft carbs (constant velocity 40mm). Can get them rather cheap on ebay as the are stock on Harley's and people take them off for mikuni's


Buell uses 1 CV40 on the 500cc Blast, so running 1 per cylinder would work.


And the constant velocity part of the carb will keep the carb from being too big at part throttle.....

Hey if you go to Pierce manifolds web site they have the complete man/carb set up with the tools to keep them in sync. but watch out they are pricy.

I have seen it done in person on a chebby six some years ago, but haven't seen it on a slant yet.

other than the "coolness" factor, I can't see a reason. Sounds like a nightmare to keep in sync, but high on uniqueness

There was a Weber Side draft set-up on Ebay recently similar to Austin Healey that had one carb for each cylinder. The manifold was hand machined.......went for over $800.00.....scared the life out of me just looking at it

There was a pic of a slant dragster in a '67 hot rod mag that showed a 6 throttle body arrangement... cool to look at, not sure how well it ever ran.

IIRC that was a hilborn setup and they still have the moulds/patterns to make it again. a few years back there was to be a group buy but i guess it never happened. one of those would make a cool efi coversion.

hum Australian Hemi Slant-Six used 3 big 2barrels, totally other engine than 225, or heavily !! modified, i dont know nothing about bike carb but im sure its a good idea. machining 6-tubes manifold or with cross-tubing..
ive seen a really good air-gobster, 2-4barrl carb with long-ram intake (!)
anyway i dont want turbo or whatsoever electro so i think these idea seems to be the best

Jack Collins of the Ford Six board had one of his 200ci Fords set up with six motorcycle carbs. I guess it idled very good and had great full throttle, but the midrange was a little harsh.
