One of the themes of this thread is that Chrysler spread the frame rails to acommadate the 383 in '67, and thus the "stagger".
I never made any such contention about the frame rails, matter of fact, I don't think it was asserted by anyone in this thread, it was just touched upon in passing.

The front tracking IS wider, no matter whether the difference is in the crossmember, control arms, lower control arm pivot location, spindle, what have you. I don't claim to know that, but it would be interesting to know definitively. We have also established that the tracking difference was only slight until it grew in '67, then again in '73 (with the introduction of the slider type disc brakes). You were already proven wrong about the tracking (at least to my reasonable satisfaction) by the specs in the factory service manuals. Their numbers don't lie! (and quite frankly, it's pretty obvious to the naked eye if you see an "A-body", particularly a '67-up, with four identical wheels and tires on all four corners.)

Dennis, why don't you just take the 5 minutes and measure between the frame rails.

Because I don't care! It doesn't prove a thing to me, I never disputed this measurement. Now if you're asking me to do so as a favor to you so that you'll know, I'll be glad to. Advise.

In '67, the front track width increased to 57.4", for all brake options.

I'm pretty sure part of the difference is in the K-member and torsion bar crossmember. Just look at what's does and doesn't interchange between a '66 and a '67:

Torsion bars will swap.
Control arms, ball joints, and spindles will swap.
Tie rods will swap.

K-members cannot be swapped.
Steering links cannot be swapped.
Pitman and idler arms cannot be swapped.

So it seems to me that the most likely change is that they moved the suspension mounting points out a little bit.

And a simple measurement would prove that therom.

For the record, a '75 sway bar will also work, if you take the time to notch a '65s kmember.

Since I have both a 1965 Barracuda and a 1974 Duster up on blocks, I thought I would measure the frame rails. Therefore, the measurements from the outside of one frame rail to the outside of the other frame rail, in the front, are approximately:

1965 Barracuda: 33-1/4"
1974 Duster: 34-7/8"
