Please tell me you drained and rinsed the converter out with some fresh fluid - chances are the metal powder you found in the original tranny has accumulated in the converter as well.

The converter had no drain plug, so I repeatedly dumped the fluid out of the back end until it was empty. It was the best I could do.

The trans works pretty good now. Sort of a harsh shift from 1-2, and when you put it in gear from idle you can't even tell the transmission is engaged until you take your foot off the brake. I still need to fine tune the kickdown linkage.
