Well, Indy is a good middle point for us to get together like we've talked about multiple times. I'd make a serious effort to make it up there if you and them Indy fellers are gonna be there. If you come to Clay City you guys are all welcome to hang at my place before or after the race. |

John will hopefully have the Dad truck ready for Clay City. Kenny will prolly come along for a break from the shop. My Dad wants to see the action as well! So .... that's four of us from Indy. Can't wait - how about sunny and mid-seventies with about 50% humidity? Rob can you get to work on that? |

I just noticed the update on the race. Thanks for posting the videos it was fun to watch. Dennis, Congrats on setting a new record. That car is flying especially at that altitude. Is there a thread on this forum about that car? I'd be interested in knowing more about your setup (unless it is a secret). That thing should run 13's in good air. I am very impressed with that car. Lou, Great to see you got your turbo car running (and reliable) already. I hope to see that car in person sometime. Looks like you all had a good time, and I hope that some day I get to see more of your cars in person. |

Thanks Ryan, it did surprise me how fast it was up on the hill. The combo has been posted many times. All basic stuff, no secrets. It's the same motor I was spraying. I did mill the head and get some squeeze in it last year. It's now around 11.5-1. 198 block +.045" steel crank 198 rods KB 2.2 turbo pistons Jeffrey tray Johnson scraper Dutra oil pump Jeffrey head Clifford 300M cam (300*-.558") Clifford intake Clifford shorties 600 Holley DP RAS 1.6 rockers Smith Bros. pushrods MSD-6AL stock Mopar distributor w/advance blocked 904 by Keith Long Griner LBA valve body PTC converter from Mike J.-stall undetermined 8-3/4 w/4.56 gears and spool M/T 28X9 slicks Cal-Tracs 3240 w/my fat ass in it. I do want to get it out one more time this year when the air is good. I have heard rumors that Gary Bruner is going to put weight in his car and take the D record. He should be able to drop it into the low 12's easy enough. |

Thanks for chiming in, Ryan. If you make another race this year, you may see the turbo 68 Dart in person - it's fun... Dennis, if I had to take a wild guess, I'd say your stall is somewhere around 3500. Car sounded kinda bogged down off the line. I like the last line of your post... Lou |

How Much Weight will that Take?:?: Are the weight breaks determined without driver? Thanks George For Posting Those Videos. I will have to get to Kearney some time. That track is on an old runway right? Greg |

Yep, old runway (WWII?) track. We are thinking Cedar Falls, IA next year, which would be about 6hrs closer to you and other East Coasters. All weights are with driver, as it sits on the starting line. IIRC, Gary's car is about 2900-3000 with him in it, so his 12.40s so far will become 12.90s/13.0s or so. That would still be a very stout time for a 3200 lb car. Lou |

Dennis, I didn't realize that was the same engine you used with nitrous before. Your dart was one of my favorite cars to read about on this site. That is running faster than ever without spray isn't it? What car does Gary Bruner have, I get the Bruners mixed up? I'm assuming it is a race only car? Lou, I am hoping to come to the Elk Creek race and maybe another one depending on the work schedule. Dad, and my brother Micah might try to come down too. I just ordered another set of nitrous jets to go with the fuel injection, so hopefully I can fix my solenoid, drive down there and make some faster nitrous passes, and drive back home. I'd like to go for a ride in your turbo car if you take it to Elk Creek. |

Lou, I thought Gary had been faster than that, but I haven't seen him run lately. I think this converter will probably go 35-3800 or so IF I can figure out why it's laying down so badly. I have some ideas, just need time to test. Ryan, The car had been 14 teens before on motor, at sea level, but had never run over 92 w/o a tailwind. I think with some decent air I can run over 100 now. Must resist temptaion to put spray back on car....... |

IIRC, Gary Bruner has been 12.40, but maybe a bit into the 30s. Ryan, you're certainly welcome to a ride. Glad you can make it!! Not sure if I'll bring that car to Elk Creek or not, but likely. I am right on the way for you too... Lou |
