Yep, I just thought they used them right on up through the trucks in the 80's like we did.

I don't know if they even really had trucks down there like we do in North America. More likely thy had some Sort of Ute based on an ap5 / pacer or safari or something, but I do not know how long Chrysler of Australia made such gems. |

Quote: I thought they had 61 Valiants in Australia - R Series They did; 1,008 of them sold in 1962, after which 10,009 S-Series Valiants (the kind we know as '62 models) were sold in '62 into early '63. The American-type model year was not a convention followed in the rest of the world.

They did, but not the same as ours (their '62-'79 "Dodge" pickups were actually locally-built Internationals), and…Quote: More likely thy had some Sort of Ute Yup—"ute" is Australian for coupe utility, a car body style that more or less amounts to a station wagon with the passenger compartment enclosure ending behind the front seats, and everything aft of that being an open bed with a fold-down tailgate. We had a few of them in America—the Chev El Camino; the Ford Ranchero, the Subaru Brat and Baja; the Dodge Rampage/Plymouth Scamp—but they were much more popular in Australia. Valiant Wayfarer utes were sold from the '65 AP6 model through the last of the '81 CM models, alongside lower-spec Dodge-badged units. There have been A-body utes built by hand in North America. Doc built a '64 Valiant item, which you can see and read about (along with an article about the Australian Valiant/Dodge utes) in the March 1988 issue of Slant-6 News № 31, which I have uploaded here. And somebody in N'joysey built one out of a '74 Dart sedan, as reported in the June 1987 issue of Slant-6 Quarterly (below). Also see this extremely well-done utification of a '91-'95 Dodge Caravan, and this illustrated history of the Australian ute. In South Africa they're called "Bakkies", as you can see in the funny Ford ad at the end of my writeup of this hand-built BMW item. Attachment:

Quote: Quote: the Slant-6 was used only from '62-'69 in Australia
Based on that, do you happen to know if/when the crank/converter pocked changed?Attachment:

Quote: I would think any of the universal oil filter relocation kits from speedway / summit / jegs would do the job or the Australian oil pump.
You would also need the 2 oil lines and filter mount that bolts of the left hand side of the engine at the front.
