About 20 people here tonight, and 15 or so more coming tomorrow! Meril's B-day, and official National Champ ceremonies will both be tomorrow (Sat), celebrated by family and Slanted family...

Two Slant cars in attendance so far - Greg's Duster and the Slantkota.

Post subject:  Tee shirts

The shirt that Lou is holding up with national champion on it is NOT the ones we will be selling for the Mason Dixon race. That was a shirt that Ryan and I made up just for Meril. Win the championship next year and I will probably get you one too! :D I will post shortly the shirt design for this year. I don't really want to start ordering shirts until I get the stickers & license plates done. Actually it is in one of the picture above the license plates.

Anyone at the banquet? Please tell Frank Brent to send me a PM with his contact info when he gets a chance. I have a friend who is interested in some parts. Specifically an Aussie Speed intake.

Have a great time.

Great times today! Had a fun party for Meril and the points winners, met some new folks and heard about new cars and motors in progress, and got some new business settled for the 2011 racing season and beyond.

See new sticky post in Events section with 2011 tentative race schedule. It looks NICE.

Big thanks to all who came, especially lots of new faces from Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Full report and race dates to come...

Other big issues discussed: (see also Tentative 2011 Race Schedule sticky post)

2-day races: We decided to try having as many races as possible be 2-day races this year, to motivate more people to come, and give the ones who show up more chances to win with one or a few travel weekends. This may not be permanent, but we will try this for 2011.

Banquet next year: We decided to use the same site, and try for the 3rd or 4th weekend in Feb for the winter 2012 banquet. We almost filled the big room this year (~50 people incl families!), so we'll see how this works next year and possibly switch sites for 2013.

Slant Six Racing News: Two guys have stepped up to help organize SSRN for 2011 and hopefully beyond - Lukus Bruner (Half Hemi) and Wayne Venable (wvenable). :D  :D Once we confirm a couple more race dates and organize our articles, we should have the next SSRN issue out in a month or two. If anyone else would like to help, PLEASE LET US KNOW! :D

Adding new classes for records: I will give more discussion on this shortly...

I can help SSRN with editing, mailing to non-forum folks, or whatever else might be needed.

I've asked the Clay City folks about making it a double points race. They are supportive. We'll start working the details soon. Tentative dates for the Clay City race are 1-2 October. They should have their schedule locked in soon.

The guy on the left in the second to the last photo is my friend Gerald Wright from Georgia. He came up to see how crazy the "Slanted Family" really is  He had a good time and was really impressed with the dedication of the Slant 6 racers there. I've been trying to talk him into building himself a Slant 6 engine. He builds a lot of V-8 stroker motors for people. He drove up in his Petty Blue '68 Valiant with a 408 stroker. That car has had many big and small blocks in it over the years and was originally a Slant 6 car, so dropping a Slant 6 back in it should be no big deal. :D
